Teacher

Accreditation is a necessary part of any teaching education. Many states require a license to teach; those licenses can only be obtained with an education from an accredited teaching program. Accreditation gives the student confidence in their education; that the program was reviewed and approved by teaching professionals. Moreover, it means that teaching professionals and the teaching community as a whole consider that education significant to ones employment.

The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) is the premier authority for accreditation of teaching education. The NCATE serves to establish high quality teacher preparation and to ensure excellence in the quality of teaching. It currently accredits more than 623 programs of education in the U.S.
